The overall vision of the TCCV is to conduct cutting-edge research in the field of smart textiles, (specific) textile-based composites and high-performance textile materials as one of Europe’s flagship R&D project in those specific fields, strongly visible and recognised in the (technical) textile research community within Austria and Europe. Research endeavours will bundle the existing competencies of the textile manufacturers together with those of the scientific community, especially the Research Institute for Textile Chemistry and Textile Physics. By this, a critical mass of expertise and dedicated research resources will be established in the region of Vorarlberg and will be available to company partners for developing cutting edged technologies e.g. next generation wearables in the medium term.
Due to the fragmented value chain innovative concepts only can be realised through cooperative research among textile companies, which in addition require research and technology input from non-textile applicants of their products. The most important incentive thus comes from the unique combination of both research expertise and industrial background which is not available elsewhere in this form. All partners are aware that the interdisciplinary consortium of partners in the COMET K-project will provide them unique approaches to scientific results and cooperative research.
Gaining international visibility and recognition by conducting cutting-edge research in the field of smart textiles, textile-based composites and high-performance textile materials
Generation of value creation in the textile industry through collaborative research projects with the goal of establishing new and innovative products, processes and services
Establishing a critical mass of expertise and technical infrastructure in a physical research centre located in Europe’s textile hot-spot Vorarlberg
Enhancing industry-science-relationships as well as international cooperation for bundling scientific and industrial competencies for tackling interdisciplinary challenges
Supporting innovation, commercialization and dissemination of novel technologies by the means of technology transfer
